Wasn't there a long thread on this proposal and requests in the council chamber for a justification as to why the charges were going up so much when the parking account wasn't in deficit?
Or am I imagining it?

Yes we ran a petition but it wasn't as well publicised as the recent Admin led 'rat run' protest. Most people asked that the whole borough share the burden of resident parking permit charges, rather than a few of us. The results were sent to Councillor Nilgun and the responsible officers. Not even the courtesy of a reply.

Dear NiallWithin your report 'Parking Charges' you lay out a number of options for raising further revenue via increased charges. Tonight (16th Nov) this will be considered at the council meeting.Members of the community website Harringayonline have discussed these options and a few others. They have taken part in a survey called 'Response to Council Parking Charge Increases'. This survey deals specifically with proposed increases with Resident's Permits charges.Interestingly the majority (73.8%) are in favour of widening the CPZ scheme to encompass the whole of the borough, such as in Westminster and Islington. Of this 73.8% half are for setting Resident Permits (borough wide) at current charges and half are for a lower charge than currently set. Of the other two questions within the survey only 4.8% agree with increasing Resident Permit charges to current CPZ residents as proposed within your report. There are 21.4% opposed to Resident permits completely.We would ask that you take along to the discussion tonight the idea of widening the CPZ to the whole of the borough but, at a reduced charge than currently set. We feel this would go a long way to raising a significant amount of revenue for the borough and therefore lessen the impact of cuts to services currently being considered.-----------------------------------------------------------...

I think the rise is extraordinarily and ridiculously high, 50-60% (poor doctors,nearly 600% up); whilst the rest of us have pay cut/frozen plus increasing national insurance and losing out against inflation... Well, we will all be yet again poorer this financial year than the last. Well, supposed there is nothing we can do about it now that they have published the parking charges...

Someone has to pay for All the Disabled Permit's issued
Understand the Numbers have risen Well in the Borough
Especially when they raised the Charges for larger CC & 4 x 4 vehicles
Have Residents that have them next to me - who can go out and play football
Yet get away with a Disabled Badge instead of Buying a Residents Permit
