Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

New gas meter already installed for the newly created self contained studio in the basement of 41 Umfreville Road. They already have 3 gas meters in the property!!

I am so surprised! The property, which has been undergoing building works for months, has now been fitted with 3 gas meters. I am not even sure whether it was a single house before all the works started...

And the Council says they have received an application to create a self-contained studio flat in the basement. But is this the correct way round? They do the conversion and then they apply for planning permission? they even fit the gas meter first??

Let the Council know your views on this. Look for my previous posts and links to express your views.

It's a done deal, I'm afraid. The owner of this property has already been prosecuted and fined in the past for flouting planning regulations, but it's standard practice to build first and apply for permission retrospectively.

Strangely, the application seems to be using the wrong form (Housholder Application) and much important information is missing.

The planning portal says -  "You should use the application form for Full Planning Permission and not the Householder Application form if your application relates to any of the following:

 • any works relating to a flat

• applications to change the number of dwellings (flat conversions, building a separate house in the garden) "
