Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

As I was going into the tube at Manor House the other day (Tuesday I think), I spotted a pavement sign near Costcutters for a farm/organic food shop. It gave the name of the road, but I didn't recognise it and promptly forgot it. Now the sign's gone. Did I imagine this, or does anyone know of a new shop opening up in the area? Sounded interesting...

Seems like no one saw this - let's hope we're all in for a nice surprise some way down the line then!

Hope so!

Perhaps it was pointing towards FARM:shop in Dalston. This is a farm in a shop building, one of those involved being Sam Henderson, of Agrarian Renaissance. Sam is the key link between the Crouch End CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) "More Than A Box Scheme" which is a two-way special relationship between an urban group and Church Farm Ardeley, near Stevenage. People in the group regularly take the train to Stevenage to visit, help out and learn at the farm (which has a terrific shop!). Pre-ordered farm boxes are delivered every Thursday early evening to the Haberdashery cafe in Middle Lane N8 - opportunity to find out more. Agrarian Renaissance is about "Real Farming", solution to feeding the world, as written about by Colin Tudge and others, in contrast to damaging industrial a agricultural and distribution systems.

If  you want food from real farms, try Stoke Newington or Islington or Walthamstow farmers' markets. A positive step towards the elusive Crouch End Farmers' Market is Budgens new stall where ultra-local producers can sell their stuff outside the shop.
