Interesting link Hugh. Personally I support their choice to not go back revising "old" data (i.e. 2 months ago), and take it forward from here.

I would imagine that they are aware of the minor flack they have taken on this though, and expect that the location reporting will improve and that that some of the main howlers like Rowley get tidied up in the next few months. That is OK for us, but will cause problems in the future because....

I would expect in the next year or so - or maybe the before the next election the original uncorrected data will be dragged up and compared with new data to show how much reported crime has "reduced" in many areas. We should expect Rowley Road to be highlighted in the Mail and Standard as a place where "reported crime" has fallen to virtually nothing through the "Big Society"!

(I also really like your word but have a deep inner feeling that it should be "ize" and not "ise" - but then I am not very good at English)

I think -ize would the the American version.
Thanks, Hugh!
For those who are interested, offences committed on the railway are not included on this new map.  If you wish to find out about crimes at any railway or Underground station, visit http://www.btp.police.uk/about_us/neighbourhood_policing.aspx
Thanks for the link BTP.
