Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

My neighbours have a dog in their backyard periodically. Today he/she is sat outside with no food, no water and no bed or shelter. I'm not a dog person so I don't know the legality surrounding this behaviour but it does seem quite irresponsible. I don't know how long they've been out for.

I cut up a milk jug and filled it with water and lowered it over the fence. I'm thinking about putting a letter on their front door telling them to pull their heads in. Is there a legal issue here or is it simply a moral one?

Are you prepared to do that then? I suspect that once you've done so they will take action if nothing changes.

Paul, that's shocking. You called them and told them about a suspected case of animal neglect, and they pretty much washed their hands of the whole sorry affair? I am fuming - that is so out of order. So this poor animal is being left out in the cold by some stupid little girls who should clearly not be in charge of anything more important than a hairbrush, the so called animal welfare charity fails to even make a house call? ARGH!!!! Are you on Twitter? Tweet them, and publicly shame RSPCA in to action. Trust me, they'd want to talk to you then! Have you tried reporting it online with them?

With regards to the noise, which is obviously also an issue, have you tried the SNT? They could also pop round and have a word about the noise, and hopefully check on the dog. Also, contact their landlord - they may not even be allowed to keep a pet, as you say. I'd talk to the neighbours, and bluff, say you have called the RSPCA (which you have), and that they're aware of a potential case of neglect (which they ignored..). If you see or hear anything else, you will not hesitate to call them again, and the dog may well be taken off them. Just blag it. Might work.

Feeling really sorry for the poor dog though, so if they get chucked out, the dog will still be stuck with them. Bloody RSPCA!!! Never getting my money again.

Good on you for doing something. Please keep on it. For your own sake, as well as that poor animal.

Good to hear. Hope it went to a better place...
