Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

45 minutes to get through this morning. no appointments left. then (when I'll and feeling vulnerable) having to deal with call back from battle-axe nurse/ gatekeeper - I know when I need to see a doctor. she won't listen, talks over me in dismissive contemptuous tones. she knows better. ask for suggestions where is a drop in or should I go to A&E - this is slapped down in sneery tone.

My GP there (who is nice) is on long term sick. I need to find another practice. anywhere as long as not located in Umfreville Road. I have put in a formal complaint to NHS England - they were very helpful and will call the practice to negotiate this time. but I haven't the energy to keep dealing with this c£#$p...

This is the press.

Yeah the press are well and truly alerted.

Ah-ha! True...

wow this is a great site tells me all I need to know and I can make complaint. thanks for link :)
I completely agree about said nurse and would never put myself in the position of being triaged by her. I have recently managed to get appointments quickly (within next two days) by going before 11 a.m and queuing up. The triage system only operates for same day appointments. I was also thinking of making a complaint as while I was queuing I witnessed a disgraceful incident where an obviously anxious patient was belittled and point blank refused an appointment in public. The said nurse clearly has no understanding of dealing with anxious people or the fact that certain things should be said in private not in front of the whole waiting room. I will stick with this surgery as I like my doctor who is extremely sympathetic and understanding, but with this level of complaints, let's hope there are some changes with other members of staff.
thanks for that, I seem to have opened a floodgate here, it's good to know I'm not the only one experiencing problems and all the advice is so useful and appreciated.
One other point - Re queueing at docs - if you ill you can't always go down there and queue in person.
Our whole family is with Queenswood medical practice in Crouch End and although it's a long walk (or a quick bus ride) they are absolutely brilliant. Staff are really helpful and never had a problem with getting same day appointment.

Me too, I now have a Main partner GP, and a good Staff Doctor, so I have two Docs who know me and most importantly CARE about their patients.  I have joined their Patient Panel.

I would strongly recommend Queenswood Medical Practice on Park Rd in Crouch End. Amazing doctors and nurses, I always get an appointment easily, no huge queues waiting on the phone, text reminders and a huge range of holistic services in the building too. It is a clean building with large spacious waiting area and very professional staff. Not sure of catchment I am afraid but give them a call. http://www.queenswoodmedicalpractice.co.uk

Thanks, I will :)  The only reason I stayed there before was because I love Doc Haas, she's great.  But without her it seems pointless to go through all that stress.

I have found my travel guide; they put it in Patient Participation!  Bit daft as I do professional Transport Consultancy work!

But all of the comments about the Doctors I endorse.

At the moment they are looking for someone who might want to run a cafe in the Reception area, next to the Pharmacy.  But not up to me!  Send them an e-mail!  R

Effectively Highgate High Street over to Green Lanes, and those points connected roughly by Haringey Borough Boundaries.
