Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I've just had a call with a recorded voice message "warning" that my National Insurance Number "has been compromised" and instructing me to press "1" to speak to an officer.

It's a relatively new but already publicised scam. The number ringing was 079 1010 4640.

Money on it being from a overseas gang

Thankfully I only use a Mobile and , dodgy numbers come up as as possible Scam

Especially if from overseas.

Accept that most Service Companies use overseas bases, for Customer Services

I had exactly the same call last week from a very similar mobile number. I blocked the number. I later read on national fraud website that it's a scam.

Don't press anything, just delete message.

Same here had a call from these fraudsters last week.

But I talked to them using made up name and details to hear the whole scam, basically they try to get as many personal details as possible (name, NI number, address, bank details).

Every time I get these kind of calls I try to keep them on the line as long as possible and play along with the scam, as it just wastes their time and hopefully means they then aren’t able to use that time to call someone else. Also by the time they figure out that I’ve been wasting their time they usual get really pissed off (the last guy told me to f*** off before hanging up), hopefully I’m discouraging more of these scammers from calling people.
