Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Nasty threatning man in big black VW rolling joints and throwing rubbish!
I was just trying to make a call. There was an incessant “boof boof” thudding through the house. A noisy 4x4 outside, no less. Not normally one to be bothered by this (indeed probably guilty of making too much noise myself at times), but after 20 minutes it got a bit much. I was simply trying to make a call!
I went to ask the guy (sitting in his rather large, black, 4x4 VW) to roll up his window or turn down the music (used as an approximate description for the noise he was making). He glared and threw litter out of the window – the rippings of Rizla that he’d rolled a joint with. How could I tell? Well, it was clearly a joint, and there was a bag of green looking stuff next to ripped Rizla packets, and some fags too, under his arm-rest. He wasn’t offering any either – how un-cool!
On top of not offering me a puff on his doobie, the guy was very rude and quite threatening. This was more concerning. He asked me what I wanted. I said that I wanted to make my call in peace and that I could hear him all the way at the back of my house, whereupon he told me to “f*** off” and threw more paper out of his window in apparent contempt.
I asked him not to do this, he told me again that I should retreat or that he’d “punch my head in”, well words to that effect anyway.
I pointed out that I have CCTV, and he told me that he’d make me perform sexual acts on him in front of the camera, if I didn’t retreat immediately. He was not as polite as I have lead you to believe thus far. I think you’ll understand the gist of the tirade of abuse that I got, without having to be much more specific!
Anyway, not wanting him to insert his member inside my mouth, especially not on my own CCTV, I did retreat, but took his vehicle reg as he drove off, and called 999. The police seemed rather keen that there was a man driving around the local area with weed and joints so clearly on the go… I was more upset at the threat of physical abuse topped off with male rape on my own doorstep, personally!
What a cheek! Has anyone else had rude man in big VW sitting around making noise and threats, while rolling joints? Hopefully he's done nothing more!!
Happy to share his vehicle index and the CAD ref that I have if he has troubled anyone else! Quite frankly, if he wants to be this un-cool, he really does need to be given a strong word from the boys in blue! He can’t be very clever really – I’m sure it’s more sensible to consume illegal materials in the privacy of one’s home, rather than advertising the fact on a public highway, whilst antagonising the local residents who come out to stare!
Let’s hope that he doesn’t come back and smash my windows, or indeed kill me in my own house. I’ll hope that this is not the last post that you read from me, although I concede that some may prefer if it was ;-)
What with all the litter tipping here, the increase in burglary, and the abuse received, one might think that the Met could up their beat patrols. I’m trying to think, but I’m pretty sure that I’ve NEVER seen a copper walking up or down my road on their "beat", in the years that I’ve been here. Granted, it’s steep. Maybe the boys in blue need 4 x 4’s to make it up here too!

How odd, the SNT just replied to this post, asking for details. When I went to reply again, the page froze. Now the SNT's response has gone and the post shows no replies, yet also shows that SNT replied to this 8 minutes ago. Was it deleted or is there a gremlin??

What this means is that SNT posted a hasty reply, thought better of it and deleted it, made some phone calls and then gave you a not-hasty reply. It happens when people are on HoL hovering over the keyboard awaiting a reply to their pressing issue ;)

I am aware of this and will conduct some enquiries tomorrow. In the meantime any police officers conducting a "CAD check" on the number plate for the next six months will be aware of the details you provided and will be able to act accordingly. I am sure that this person is unlikely to go unnoticed for long based on what you've said. We will keep an eye out for him as well. We target loud stereos and advise drivers of their effect on others whenever we can. I found the CAD hence my deletion.

In my experience they soon push off if you recite their registration number to them.
It's beginning to be a bit of a problem people parking up on the ladder to have a rest from driving around all day. It's especially popular on Willoughby Rd where as long as you stand by your vehicle the parking wardens will do no more than ask you to move. I know because I asked a parking warden why he was busy getting stuck into someone whose resident visitor permits had expired but ignoring the 5 blokes hanging around the silver Audi three cars back (smoking weed and listening to music no doubt) on Saturday afternoon. My point is that part of the parking up is being intimidating enough to ward off the wardens.

Joe, a bit of defence for our local boys'n'girls in blue. They are very much beat cops and I see them around quite a bit. Not only that, but they're also smart enough to keep an eye out for us on HoL as well - as you've just found out.

This happens on a regular basis where I am. I never have the balls to go and ask them to turn it down tho, might get my face punched in. Next time I see one of these I'll take the number and report it.

I have made some enquiries and spoken to the business partner of the owner of the vehicle, although he is not the person described above. I have asked that the owner contact me and I shall have words.
In the meantime a Crime Intelligence report has been submitted detailing what happened and what has been done.

I'm pleased to announce that burglary figures are down and have remained down for some time. Fly dumping and litter dumps are also down. We target Anti Socvial behaviour whenever we come across it.
We regularly patrol the whole ward and walk down Allison Rd!! In fact the food festival programme you received was hand delivered by us as part of our foot patrols
We could knock on your door each time we pass to reassure you if you'd like. ;)

Can't say I see any sign of tipping reduced, having reported three in the past two weeks, but very glad that burglary is down! Still glad I was shocked into upping home security though; better safe, than sorry!!
