Looks like well heads to me - has there been any drilling in the park ?

This from a member of the Friends of Ally Pally:

These ‘strange objects’ were installed over a year ago by consultants preparing a feasibility study for the Alexandra Park manager on the development of a new wetland in the park, a reduction in the flooding which affects paths in the south east of the park and improvements in natural habitats in the area. The ‘strange objects’ are pipes sunk into the ground to test the soil’s percolation properties at that point i.e. how easily does water flow through the soils below the ground surface.

The feasibility study was funded by the Mayor of London’s Rewilding fund, and a further application has been made to the fund by Alexandra Park and Palace Trust to enable the study recommendations to be implemented.
