Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi folks,

We've got two lovely events coming up at Music on the Ladder, one very soon and one in a few months.   First up, we have a concert on Saturday, 1 March in which Carol Cabey, who is a member of the congregation at St. Paul's Harringay, will sing jazz, spirituals and showtunes in an exploration of our musical expression of faith and love, accompanied by pianist Keith Bray.  The concert, entitled "A Touch of Love and the Lord" will be at 7.30 p.m. at St. Paul's Church on Wightman Road.  Admission is free; there will be a retiring collection (suggested donation £5) and there will be refreshments after the concert.

Carol, who grew up in Harringay and is a former pupil of South Harringay Junior School and Hornsey School for Girls, had this to say about her forthcoming performance: “I am thrilled to be invited to perform at my church.  St. Paul’s has a special place in my heart because I have attended since I was a child, and I love that it welcomes everyone in the community.”

If you'd like to hear more of Carol's thoughts on the concert, she will be interviewed on BBC London 94.9 at about 7.30am this Sunday (23rd) as part of Jumoke Fashola's Inspirit show.

The second event coming up is "Come and Sing The Pirates of Penzance" on Saturday, 7 June.  For those unfamiliar with the format, anyone who would like to have a go at singing turns up in the afternoon to rehearse with our lovely conductor, David Went, and then we perform the show, in a concert setting, in the evening.  Refreshments are available throughout the day from our Angel Cafe.  This event is £10 for singers (including loan of a score) and £5 for audience.  We'll post more details shortly about precise timings, but if you'd like to sing, please drop us a line to musicontheladder@gmail.com and let us know your voice part.  We'll also be auditioning very shortly for the principal roles, so keep your eyes open for more on audition dates soon.

Music on the Ladder brings together professional, semi-pro and amateur local musicians in concerts and other events at St Paul's Church, Harringay. The focus is on involving local musicians and organising events for the whole community.  If you'd like to keep up with our news, please like our facebook page at www.facebook.com/musicontheladder or follow us on twitter: @musicontheladdr (that last "e" really isn't there!).  Alternatively, feel free to drop us a line to musicontheladder@gmail.com!

We hope to see you at one of our events soon!
