Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I find that one of our local MPs Catherine West  has so far not added her name to MP Sarah Champion's letter to Keir Starmer concerning Palestine when 221+ MPs from across the House feel able to do so.

Depending on your point of view you may wish to contact Catherine either to encourage her to sign the letter or to encourage her not to?

I'm pleased to add my reply to man thinking. But as I am currently man angry and also man weeping I'd like to go a litttle further.

Mr Starmer leads a political party I belonged to for many decades. I'm now ashamed that someone as unwilling to learn and listen to expert views has been allowed to take power. Someone who I think claims to be a human rights lawyer. And - if I am not mistaken - once decribed himself as a Zionist.

I gather that Starmer is currently hoping to airlift food aid into Gaza. If so I hope he listened to the BBC's Jeremy Bowen on Radio 4 today about the problems of trying to feed two million people with aircraft dropping palletts and parcels etc.

There is of course a better way to feed malnourised people in particular children and babies. Available UN trucks.

It's also necessary to equip and feed the medics who will tend to the malnourished people. The obvious people to carry out this task are the UN staff.   Precious little time is available.

By chance Starmer is now meeting Donald Trump. Doesn't Mr Trump want a Nobel Peace Prize? All he and Keir need do is phone  their pal Netanyahu and tell him that food, water, medicine and a ceasefire to save the children is the first vital step.

Alternatively, polite mutual withdrawal of embassies might be top of a list of urgent actions to take to separate the U.K. from the murderous Zionist state.

Here's a direct link to Jeremy Bowen's page on the BBC earlier today.

Catherine West is a member of Labour Friends of Israel and as such supports genocide and the starvation and bombing of children in Gaza. She keeps her Zionism quiet and when I mentioned it on her Facebook page she promptly blocked me. What a champion of free speech. Half a million people have now signed up in support of a new party by Corbyn and Sultana. We are sick to death of this vile government and opposition who have shamed us all in their support for Israel's genocide

Have they agreed on the name of the new party yet?

Will it be the Fruit and Nut Party?

Will it be Jezbollah?

Will it be the Britain Last Party?

Will it be Deform?

Hi Philip.

I  don't know Catherine West well at all. It's disapointing that she blocked you. But I don't assume that she - or anyone else can't change her mind when the facts change. In fact such changes of mind are almost predictable for very many people when the issues involve Israel/Palestine. You may be aware of well known examples including Israeli historians and other academics whose study and research enables them to see through and reject the myths of Zionism. I realise this is painful for many people.

The change of viewpoint also applies to Jews I respect and whose work I follow. The US professor Peter Beinart is a good example. At a recent free online discussion he made a point of welcoming people who strongly disagreed with him.

You say you assume that "Catherine West ...  supports genocide and the starvation and bombing of children in Gaza." I make no nuch assumption. I assume the opposite on the basis that people I trust assure me that Catherine is a decent moral person. If they and I are wrong then  obviously noboby should select or elect any candidate for public office who knowingly supports genocide.

I'd rather our MPs concentrated on issues in their constituency and their country. Badgering them to fight the omnicause, considering all the problems with Britain, is weird.

John, shouldn't Members of Parliament be able to carry several different issues ideas and projects in their minds? Isn't that what we humans not only can do but thrive on the challenge of doing?  They also have public funding for paid staff to assist them.

Hello again John McMullan

I was thinking again about your term "badgering" applied to people who urge Catherine West MP to spend more time on foreign policy issues. As someone who wishes you well, can I please suggest you spend a little time looking up Catherine West's ministerial job and her contributions to discussions in Parliament in the last few months.
