Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Ming-Ai (London) Institute, Cooking, Tai Chi, Free Computer learning days & more

I came across this organisation recently. Based in N11, Ming-Ai seems to be a Catholic Hong Kong-UK friendship association set up in the years prior to the handover of the colony.

The ethos seems to be a mix of charitable, culture, business, quasi-academic and religious. Their courses include those designed to support business professionals who want to enter the Chinese market, but also ones which have a much more domestic appeal. They're a UK Online Centre and run the odd project like the British Chinese Food Culture Project, a Heritage Lottery funded project studying the development of Chinese food in Britain.

They run unusual suite of short workshops. Though, be warned most seem to be set at a more business oriented price point. The computer events are free. They include:

  • Chinese Cookery: Dim Sum
  • Chinese Martial Arts Seminar:The Frolics of Five Animals
  • Practical Voice
  • Computer Consultation and Surgery Day (Free)
  • Chinese Culture Seminar:Introduction to Chinese Culture
  • Chinese Martial Arts Seminar:Sun Style Tai Chi

They also run a range of longer courses in the following areas:

  • Arts & Leisure
  • Business & ICT Skills
  • Catering & Hospitality
  • Certificate Courses
  • GCSE Exam Preparatory Courses
  • Languages
  • Teacher Training Courses

If you fancy finding out more, they have an open day on September 25th with free taster sessions.
