Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Midnight Storm Bird
Following a late night work session getting something ready for a client deadline this morning, I opened the front door to enjoy the rain and lightning at two in the morning and was surprised to hear this beautiful birdsong.
I was wondering if there any birders out there who can can tell me what bird it is and whether it's at all odd for a bird to be singing during a thunderstorm at two on the morning.

Not a birder Hugh but this sounds very like a blackbird to me.

"There are other triggers, besides light, that can bring about night-time song in robins and some other birds. If a bird is suddenly awakened by a sudden noise like thunder, fireworks, earthquake, wartime bombing etc, even a sudden shaking of its roosting tree, it may burst into song."

Sounds a Blackbird to me. Not a bird expert, but I think that Robins and to a lesser extent Blackbirds will sing at night especially just before dawn and especially when there is street lighting.
