Domestic Violence can happen to anyone.

Here in Haringey we have a Domestic Violence advice and support centre Hearthstone where everyone can get help either for themselves, a friend or relative.

You can access help on all aspects of Domestic Violence; counselling, housing, legal, police and health serves are available to help people decide what they want to do.

Hearthstone has helped many older people escape from Domestic Violence and rebuild their lives. One woman who spoke at a recent Stop Domestic Violence event said "I put up with the violence from him when the children were little, then things got really bad and I ended up in hospital with a brain injury from him, it was talking to a nice nurse while I was recovering that made me realise I didn't have to put up with Domestic Violence, I would say to anyone don't be like me and put up it for all those years. Its not been easy but I have made a new life myself and the children ".

Domestic Violence is a crime; it is not always physical, it can also be psychological and financial. Do not delay in seeking help or advice.
