Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The number of households in England will grow by more than 6 million by 2031, according to a projection released today.

The projection, published by the Office of National Statistics, says that the number of households in England will rise to 27.8 million in 2031 – an increase of 6.3 million on 2006 levels.

By 2031 there will be just shy of 60 million people living in households in the UK, an increase of 19 per cent from 2006 levels, the figures show.

But the number of one-person households will rise by 60 per cent between 2006 and 2031, the figures show.

The average number of people per household is set to drop from 2.32 in 2006 to 2.13 in 2031, according to the figures.
