MAGIC wands disappear in bankrupt Croydon: TfL warns other Boroughs against similar trickery
BANKRUPT Croydon Council pulled out their TfL-funded cycle-lane wands unlawfully and without TfL's permission.
This wasted £235,000 of public funds. As punishment, TfL is currently freezing their transport funding.
TfL … has warned other boroughs against doing the same (as Conservative Croydon)
I hope our local Highwaymen heard this message. Due to their commitment to car-use and to car-ownership, plus their long-term indifference to cycling-infrastructure, our Highways Team stand ready, willing and waiting to backslide.
Some may remember our Highwaymen—under the control of Cllr Seema Chandwani—cast their magic spell and deleted—not only wands—but a whole cycle-lane near Tottenham Hale bus station.

Clive, Can I please ask you to you to give us a link to any evidence that staff in Haringey "Highways Team stand ready, willing and waiting to backslide" and and "delete" further cycling infrastructure. You abuse these staff as "highwaymen".
But then you also observe that as members of staff they were previously "under the control of [Labour] Cllr Seema Chandwani.Clive, you have a well-deserved reputation for patiently and determinedly using Freedom of Information legislation to obtain shameful factual information about £Millions wasted by the previous Joe Ejiofor Labour cabinet in very dubious property deals.
Have you any solid information / facts which supports your new assertions about cycling lanes?

NOT everyone will recall Haringey Council's unanimous, Full Council declaration of a Climate Emergency 7 (seven) years ago.
About a year later, their lengthy-but-empty "Climate Action Plan" promised little-to-nothing meaningful. And it delivered on those promises in spades. Building cycling infra is consistent with addressing climate change. Perhaps the environment will now come back into more than just fashion.
Fewer still will remember the Highways Team's removal, also in 2019, of one of the bike lanes the Highways Department created. But it goes to show that what this council decides to give, this council can decide to take away. Be it Tree Protection- or Locally Listed Building-Orders, or cycle lanes built at public expense.
It's unknown how much of this 2 August 2019 letter reflects the personal belief of the then Highways Cabinet Member or if it simply retails the long time indifference—if not hostility—of the municipal Highwaymen to cycling infrastructure.

It's often the case that a change from active to passive verbs can offer clues to a bias of a writer. So when you write - in the passive: "It's unknown" etc, I guess you actually mean no more than a variation of what you've posted before.
So that the Council staff deserve abuse as "Highwaymen" (robbers?).
Or that they were carrying out the personal wishes, beliefs, or instructions of Cllr Seema Chandwani.
Or perhaps that Cllr Chandwani is simply "retailing", (selling?)
Or acting as Seema's mouthpiece.You seem to have dismissed the other points in the Haringey letter. The issues of safety; the possibility of other routes. Have they come up with any such safer alternatives?
