At one point, John, there were enough enforcement officers for them to take a quick (careful) peek into the contents of dumped bags to see if there is any evidence of where this stuff comes from.
If it hasn't already been reported and removed, it might be worth asking your Neighbourhood Action Team to do this. It would be nice to identify the generous person or persons who have donated their belongings to the neighbourhood.

I don't care if the offenders are identified or punished. I'm just sick and tired of living among lazy, selfish, inconsiderate people who behave like this. If I could afford it, I would be on the first bus out of this shithole.

John D, I sympathize, and it's more than worth the hassle of the move itself, not having to trip over that s**t every day. Best thing I ever did was to get out!
The whole area needs a massive blitz of action over a prolonged period of time to eradicate this behavior, but there are not enough resources.

It's not Annette who is trashing us: it's (probably ) a minority of the people who live here who are trashing us. Annette is just telling it like it is.
It's not nice to live in an area where there is blatant drug-dealing in the local park with fights in the street outside drug houses; where people dump rubbish and matresses in the street; where the front gardens are filled with builders' rubble; where overgrown hedges take over the pavements; where noisy weekend parties go on all night until 10 am; where people spit in the street and discard used condoms; where women are subjected to kissy noises and lewd suggestions from loitering men.
You can pretend it's not there but it's not going to go away until we confront it.

You are right, sadly this is the case in most of London and beyond, some places more blatant than others. However, Anette has moved away, but still seems to be emtionally involved in this area and I question why if she really thought it was so bad. Some (many) choose to stay and try to change things and others move away. None is right or wrong, but if you move away I think you should let the people who stay get on with dealing with it. There are a lot of people who are trying to improve things and what do you get out of sitting on the sidelines being critical? A bit like annoying co-drivers....

That's exactly my point Charlotte; Annette chose to (presumably) sell up and move to Crouch End, for what she see is a better life. Although HoL is inclusive of CE, she chooses to regularly come on here writing off and dismissing this area and in turn the very people who are working hard to make better lives for themselves whilst trying to make Harringay a better area to live.
It's utter tosh to suggest there are no house parties in CE or rubbish issues or indeed rubbish people. I was in one of the nicest streets of Hampstead yesterday evening and it had a nice big pile of rotting rubbish on the pavement. I later walked along Green Lanes and saw an even bigger pile near Fairfax. It irritated me but I just took a photo and reported it, I didn't ignore it.
John your hyperbolic comment could describe this entire country. How do I give the impression I pretend it's not here? How does anyone on here give you that impression? If you've got such an issue with the area, you can sell up too and move away, after all property prices are booming round here.

Is this the same Matt who said on another thread -
" Not only is there drug dealing, there's the sussing of out of commuters as they exit from Turnpike Lane, following them & mugging them for their phones etc. This happened twice last year that I know of (at this time of the year) to two female commuters as they entered Harringay Passage, just up from the Common " ?

No hyperbole there Nicholas - they've all been raised as concerns on here, just not all at once. And I did compliment you on your action in reprting the dumping in the passage.
