Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Shoppers in Harringay are to be reminded of ways to avoid food waste during the summer.

Leftovers contribute to £12 billion worth of food that is thrown out every year in UK homes. Householders are throwing out on average £480/year. This increases to £680/year for families with children.

To teach us all how to do better, the Council are hosting a Love Food, Hate Waste roadshow on Tuesday 13 July, 10am - 2pm at Sainsbury's, Harringay.

Food waste experts will be on hand to offer advice on portion control, sell-by dates and storage and to give shoppers some tips and rescue recipes on making the most of their leftover food, whilst also saving money.

The Love Food, Hate Waste campaign is run by WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme), a government funded not-for-profit company.

And with a clear nod to Harringay circuses of years gone by, shoppers will also have the opportunity to spin the Wheel of Food or play the Perfect Portions game and test their knowledge of food waste.

Mr Flouch: since you switched to a UNIX-class computer operating system, its pleasing to see a photograph of you carrying a publication depicting the effect. Is that a Red Delicious in your hand or a tomato for the Beast of Redmond?
If that's your construct for the picture, Steve Jobs should think himself lucky that the folk at Love Food Hate Waste didn't choose a raspberry character, I guess.
Raspberry? Surely the outfit you're wearing in the photos is a strawberry, doubtless a nod to the strawberry coloured iMac from 1997. This was one of the fruit collection (four years before OS X) of which Love Food Hate Waste would doubtless approve: lime, grape, blueberry, tangerine and of course, strawberry.

We should of course all eat more fresh fruit and veg. I'm no Vegan, but our stomachs are essentially large devices to process large amounts of vegetable matter (and not refined sugar, for example).
Thank goodness they didn't make Cllr Canver wear the strawberry outfit:
