It's good of you to help this cat. If no-one recognises it on here, you could take it to the vet to be scanned to see if it's microchipped. You won't need to make an appointment and the vet won't charge you. The vet will also be able to confirm whether it's neutered.
If the cat is not microchipped, maybe try putting a collar on the cat with a note attached with your tel no and see if any owner calls you.
Another useful website is www.animalsearchuk.co.uk as you can put details on there if you find or lose a pet.
Hopefully the cat will have an owner - if a cat doesn't have a catflap, they will cry outside for hours if they can't get into their home when their owner is out. So I always encourage cat owners to get a catflap.
Thanks Justine. I took him to the vet this am to see if there was a microchip. But no microchip and he's unneutered which is always a bad sign. He definitely has had an owner though as he's not thin and he's very friendly. Could have wandered quite far as he's a Tom cat. Will put up posters around the neighbourhood.
Oh dear, if only everyone would get their pets microchipped and neutered!
If I were you, I would get him neutered in the meantime and keep him inside until he is neutered - otherwise he's just going to get other cats pregnant, which leads to more homeless cats.
The vet is doing it as we speak. I'm with you on this one.
if no owner can be found then you are first in line.
