Thank you Justine - you are a treasure.

Humphrey is my cat and I am heartbroken by his disappearance. He is a stray cat we took in about 4 years ago.He is shy and only trusts us. He also doesn't miaou which makes him hard to find.  He rarely leaves the house/garden. We think a feral tomcat chased him away. The feral has been hanging around our house since the kittens we posted about earlier were born - he fathered one of them. (The kittens have been found a forever home through an animal charity and they are moving in September all together).

Here are some photos of the lovely Humphrey - please, please contact me if you see him and please check your sheds etc in case he ran in there for shelter. Thank you

Poor Humphrey! Try not to worry, I know it's very hard. Well done for giving a home to a stray cat and also for doing the right thing - getting him neutered and microchipped, if only everyone were so sensible. Make sure the microchip coompany have your up to date contact details.

You did well to sort out the kittens a home, that's great.

I know you've got enough on your plate, but if you can, when you have time, get the tomcat neutered. (He may even be a cat that's been lost for a long time. It's not a nice life for an unneutered cat living on the street - lots of fights and struggling to find food. Plus leads to injuries to other cats and the last thing we need is more pregnant cats or illness. We've helped quite a few strays over the years and you clearly have as well. If you can't catch the tomcat and need a cat trap, rescue homes like www.scratchingpost.co.uk and www.caring-for-animals.org can help trap and neuter).

We'll look out for Humphrey! Maybe he's intimidated about getting back into his territory by the male cat. Like you say, he could have got trapped in someone's shed, garage or basement by mistake. Knocking on some neighbours' doors is a good idea - including neighbours with gardens backing on to yours. It could be that he's got a slight injury from a catfight and he's laying low for a few days and then will turn up at home. Fingers crossed.
