Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Have they been reported to anyone? I would assume so, but they’re still just sitting there…

Yes, a report for this shows on Haringey's Love Clean Streets app on 30th August. In case it's gone astray I've just re-reported it under the dumped vehicles category. That apparently gets sent to NSL Service Ltd who deal with abandoned vehicles on the borough's behalf. Apparently it will be "investigated' within 1 working day.  You can see the job code on the screenshot below. Ignore the closed status that just shows it's been outsourced.

A confirmation email tells me "NSL can be contacted by telephone 0330 135 8949 or by email to haringeypound@nslservices.co.uk"

In the meantime, your two councillors should be all over this - contact them and ask what action is being taken. You’d think that two weeks should be long enough for the vehicles to have been cleared. Also suggest that video cameras might be located nearby. With no houses in the immediate vicinity, it's a location ideal for dumping.

I dropped Mike Hakata a quick note last night and in a reply this morning, he wrote.

Our waste enforcement team has visited Eade Road and placed notices on the vehicles. This is a legal requirement to inform the owners of the impending removal.  We anticipate this process to be completed very soon. I am chasing the team for an updated timeline for removal and will get back to you asap.

Thanks Hugh. I'd completely forgotten about that app! It's good they are (seem to be...) doing something about it. I don't know if there's any connection, but the first lorry (the one that has the side ripped off) seemed to appear about the time they started clearing the big 'dump' area behind the fence there. I see now it's completely clear - maybe they're about to start developing it?

If you're happy not to just walk on by, it's an app worth downloading and keeping on your phone. It takes about two minutes to report something. Lorry trailers excepted, I find the response normally very quick. You can normally expect any reported dumped rubbish to be cleared in 24-48 hours. I also use it occasionally to report street/pavement defects and graffiti.

Yes, I have used it previously but looks like I deleted it. It is very useful though!

Hi all,

Been on this all summer and increasingly hacked off with really poor LBH performance. i let them know on  12 June that a bloke in van was loading, initally one and then two trailers, with rubbish at the end of each day.  It's just gone on and on ... Tagged and then attracting more fly tipping.

I did email Mike and he helped but it then seems to have got stuck internally.

I emailed Chief Exec and Leader of Council this week as its really  pitiful performance by Haringey. Would this happen in Highate? I think not.  Was promised it (I'm not sure what that is) would be cleared today.

Well done for keeping at it. Sounds like you’ve had a very frustrating time. When did they make their promise to you?

Most recent was yesterday, after email to CEO and Ldr of Council. Often feels like a full time job remembering to follow/chase up.

I suspect the trailers with no number plates that get loaded with building refuse is a new wheeze by cowboy builders.

Touching wood as I type,

Did they clear it yesterday?

Sent message earlier but seem to have deleted it…

The answer is no. They came out and cleared the pavement but left everything underneath and around the trailers.  Case of setting the bar low and … overachieving. My email to CEO and leader of council got a response and treated as a complaint.

I’d just like them cleared. How difficult to remove 2 trailers over 3+ months?
