Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Looking for someone to care for our small friendly Shih-Tzu for three months

We are a local family who have an extremely docile, loveable and well-behaved female Shih-Tzu. We are going away for three months from beginning of November through end of January and are looking for someone who can care for her in their own home.

She gets on well with children, cats and other dogs and has a very good nature. She's diabetic and requires twice-daily insulin injections. She does not need long walks and is generally a very chilled-out presence.

We're happy to compensate £500 and provide all food etc.

If this sounds of interest please response letting us know a bit about you and your situation. Thanks!!

Hi. We are a couple in our 50s on the Ladder. We don’t have children or pets but we both love dogs (have grown up with dogs; one of us has owned a shih-tzu in the past). We have talked for many hours about getting our own dog for but for various reasons have not yet gone ahead: careers and travel have got in the way. However, one of us will be taking time off work and will be at home until spring 2017 and we would both welcome the opportunity to try out having a dog in our lives. We have a garden and also like walking so a dog would have plenty of opportunities for exercise. Giving injections is not a concern. If our circumstances sound of interest, we would welcome a chat.

I think the above couple sound perfect.

But I would be interested too.

I am 50 training to be a counsellor, working p/t for NSPCC.

Have garden and only work 12 hours a week.

Hi Rebecca. I live in Higham Rd N17 and am looking for an occasional dog sitter for our 1 year old Cockapoo Blossom. We have to go to a funeral in a couple of weeks and need someone for that day. I have sent you a connection request to discuss if you are interested. Thanks. Kieran

Hello Helen,

I just saw your reply to this post and decided to get in touch with you as I am in the same situation as this family. I am going to be away from 19 Dec until 14 Feb and might need someone to look after my dog Pixie.

Pixie is a very cute and house trained 3 y/old Shih-Tzu. Sometimes she takes a bit of time to get used to people she doesn't know but she is very loving and caring.

I have a neighbour that looks after her for me but she might be away herself. Should this be the case, would you be interested in the job? I will be offering £250.

I look forward to hearing from you.

It's lovely to see PS that you are getting some kind offers to help in respect of your cute Shih Tzu.

I hope you don't mind me also mentioning to people with an interest in dogs reading your post (after suitable care has been found for your dog which is of course the priority) - that rescue places not only need permanent homes for dogs, but they also need need temporary fosterers as well.

Fostering a dog would involve temporarily looking after a dog until a permanent home is found - or to give a dog a break from rescue kennels. In case it's helpful to anyone, here are some explanations on fostering at Oldies Club and The Mayhew Animal Home and All Dogs Matter

Of course you often get very attached to the dog and many fosterers end up offering a permanent home which is always a happy ending!
