Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello

I will be back work full time from Feb 2014, and have arranged childcare 2 x week at my friend's and 3 x week at the Playroom (on Fairfax road).  It would have worked out perfectly but just found out my friend is pregnant expecting another baby on May 2014.  The Playroom doesn't have vacancy for FT at this moment - maybe later part of 2014.

I have also registered at Little Jewel's from Apr 2014 (they only take babies 1 yo or older) but will only know next Jan if we've got a space.

Not really sure what would be best for her - whether to put her FT at Little Jewels from next Apr (if we've got a space) or find alternative childminder 2 x week until when/if the Playroom becomes available FT.

Has anyone changed child care arrangements for babies when they are little, and how did it go?  I am wondering what sort of effect that would give to her and whether if it will be good idea to change it...

Also if anyone could give me recommendation for another childminder in the area that would be great.

many thanks!

I sort of have experience in this. Went back to work for 4 days a week when my son was 7mo. My cleaner, who was training in childcare at the time, looked after him. Then he started at Little Jewels at 1yo. My son doesn't seem to have suffered at all, though obviously the first couple of weeks of a new childcare arrangement is hard (they cry, you feel like the worst mum in the world, then they get used to it…). In both situations though he was with the same person for the entire time, as opposed to some days here and some there. We love little Jewels though, and at full time it works out so much cheaper than other childcare options.

Thanks, Helen.  I've heard lots of good things about Little Jewels so hopefully we'll get a space there.  Not much choice at this moment to split the care till she's 1 yo...I'm sure I'll feel like the worst mum inthe world!
