Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Local winners for 'People & Environment Achievement Awards', 2011

Congratulations to Azul-Valerie Thome and team for their success last night in winning the Community Achievment category in this year's People & Environment Achievement Awards.

Here's the organisers' blurb on the awards:

Global warming and the depletion of natural resources are among the biggest challenges facing our world today. To avoid the worst-case scenarios we need to take urgent action. Governments and big business will hopefully take vital steps towards safeguarding the environment. In the meantime individuals already making a difference can be our inspiration. The launch of the PEA Awards"in association with The Co-operative" reflects a desire to recognise these people and celebrate their contributions to the green agenda.

The award was recognition for the 'food from the sky' project. This Crouch End initiative is a collaboration between Thornton's Budgens supermarket and Azul-Valerie. It is a Permaculture community garden growing food to sell in the supermarket below while providing a learning and educational space for the different part of the communities.
