Drop-in sessions are to be held at Wood Green library to provide help and information for people who have suffered strokes, their families, staff and the general public.
The sessions will be held on the first Wednesday of every month in the business suite at the library from 11am-2pm. Blood pressure checks will also be available as high blood pressure is one of the main risk factors for stroke.
A Facebook page,
Stroke-Community Haringey, has also been set up so that sufferers, their families, carers and other interested parties can keep in touch.
The idea for the project came from the stroke information committee which was set up in April. The committee is made up of stroke survivors and carers.
The drop-in sessions will give people more information about the illness – including how strokes can be prevented as well as the help that's available.
