I'm afraid I have bought a kit from Ikea for my daughter. Any views as to whether caramel or icing is the best 'glue'?

With having a baby and a toddler around I use the icing and egg white method for safety. But I also think it's more traditional to see the white icing lines of the joins. The egg white icing is very strong.
