I'm no longer a member of any political party. I still regard elections and voting as important. And I've recently noticed that one member of this website posted a mistaken key fact about the May 2026 election. I consider that as citizens we should try to check and correct such facts if possible.
There are two - NOT THREE - Council seats available in some wards. Including St Ann's Ward.
From the Green Party website it appears that Cllr Paton is not standing as a candidate in May.
I regard it as a fact that The Greens rightly judge Climate Change is one of the major threats to our planet.

Agree. i'm no longer a member of any political party and I don't agree with all the Green's policies. However, climate ought to be the big issue, if not the biggest issue.
Last election, local New Labour's slogan was a fairer and greener Borough, but like Starmer's Government, local New Labour has since put previous climate policies on their rear-most burner.
The leader offers little bread but lots of circuses.
The most recent evidence for this, is the leadership releasing from the Cabinet the previous Cabinet Member for Transport, Environment and Climate Action.
At least Mike Hakata understood the issues.
Starmer's Government has truly bungled climate. One of the most glaring ineptitudes has been their blowing hot-and-cold on the date of phase-out of new fossil-fuel burners. Which year is it now?
Even the Conservative's Boris Johnson had a better record on climate!
Other Parties' attitude ranges from slashing or downplaying climate policies (Starmer-New-Labour) through to just short of dismissing the subject as a Chinese Hoax (i.e. the Reform Party).
