Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I've just added a little more info to the candidate profiles.

Openly Local is run by a guy who styles himself Count Culture on Twitter and that's all I can think of him as. Openly Local is run by him out of love of open data. He crowds it with as much data as he can get out of local councils.

We host the Openly Local profile of Haringey Council on HoL - access it via the Public Services tab, then Public Service Watch.

As part of it each councillor has a page detailing, in the main, the committees they sit. Not earth shattering but all part of the picture I'm trying to build up of our candidates.

Liz's blog is now doing a great job adding to that so if I get a chance I'll try and integrate that.

Use the Elections lozenge - top right-ish to link to all local elections stuff

The site is not unhelpful, Hugh.
Although, as Liz is now doing, it's valuable to pay far more attention to substance and not just the show - what the women and men 'behind the curtain' get up to.

Oh, and Jan O'Donovan shown on the site as Haringey's Chief Executive isn't and never was.

Alan, what I've tried to do is to establish an infrastructure which all members can populate with information about candidates, parties, their records and promises.

We're trying to pick out the best bits of info available from anywhere. I think one of the points that Liz is making in her blog is that it's tough to dig out info on many of the candidates. However, she does have more and will be sharing it as time goes by. In the meantime we continue to add other available data as we go, even though it may not be offering a peek behind the curtain'.

We've also been doing as many video interviews as we can. And, even though I set it up so as not to be scary or overly challenging, my hope is it will add more to the picture.

If any members have other substantiated info on the candidates they can contribute, no matter how apparently insignificant, please don't hesitate to add it. It doesn't have to be 'behind the curtain'.
