The other morning I was walking from Crouch End library past the town hall with my grandson. On the bench overlooking the green I spotted a couple completely drunk and drinking from cans. They were kissing and groping and generally being loud. All this at 11am.
I just walked round the other way not wanting my grandson to become too interested in what was happening. But on reflection perhaps I should have called someone to have them moved on, if that were possible. Not an emergency so 999 not appropriate. Is there a number you can call to get hold of the community police? And would they have been interested? Perhaps I should be more open minded and shrug and say its a free country.
What do you think?

101 is the national non-emergency police contact number. The operator will put you through to the local force.
Thanks--do you think they would have been interested?? its not really a crime is it??
was not the drinking in public that worried me so much, more the very loud and lewd behaviour. Perhaps i am getting old and set in my ways.
Isn't that just 'Big City Life' at it's best?
not bothered about people making the place look untidy, but active gropping and foul language at full volume on a peaceful monday morning jarred.
What police?? There were non around.
I was a bit appalled at someone shooting up outside waitrose which was reported here the other day. I mean....waitrose!!! However having a drink and a snog on a bench sounds really quite pleasant and I wish hubby and I had more time to do this ourselves. These days sadly our days seemed to be filled with trying to scratch together our mortgage repayments and contesting parking fines. 3 in one week.
I look forward to retirement when I plan to spend a lot more time sitting on benches drinking thunderbirds straight from the bottle and swearing.
