Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Le Chamarel - some of the tastiest snacks in the neighbourhood

Le Chamarel is an unprepossessing little eatery on Turnpike Lane, about halfway between the Harringay Passage and the tube station.

It's Mauritian, meaning that it's food is shaped by the Indian diaspora. I started going there for the dahl puri (one of my guilty secrets), but I've progressed by adding veggie samosa and chana puri to my list (along with a couple of others, the name of which I've forgotten).

If I ever have reason to go to Wood Green these days, I make sure that my route always goes along the New River Path and passes Le Chamarel. 

I think the very friendly owner does more business with take-away than sit-down in the rather sparse cafe, but either work for me if my object is a tasty snack.

I had a meal in there, can't remember what it was called but it was a noodle dish. Very tasty it was to. 

There's a small Sri Lanken Cafe in the marketplace in Wood Green shopping City. Has a couple of tables there and they are brilliant, especially their puris.

Thanks for the recommendation. Got a delicious fried rice dish there this evening. Worth noting that it closes early in the evenings!
