Launching 30th March: South Asian Movies at Screen Wood Green

Screen Wood Green is a membership based community cinema and will focus on a range of South Asian and other good quality films which normally tend to get sidelined by mainstream.

It has been set up with support from Wood Green Films and local businesses along with Collage-Arts whose collaboration will result in the revival of its Unheard Voices project.

Screen Wood Green will launch on Friday 30th March at 6.30pm at the Asian Centre, Caxton Road, Wood Green N22 with the screening of two films.

You can see local BAFTA Award Winner Yousaf Ali Khan's acclaimed short film Skin Deep about the internal struggle of Rashid, a mixed-race teenager trying to rise to prominence. Yousaf Ali Khan will be in attendance and there will be a Q and A after the screening.

The second feature is director?s Carol Morley's disturbing "Dreams of a Life" which deals with the true story of Joyce Vincent, a woman whose body lay in a Wood Green flat for more than 2 years before being discovered. "Dreams of a Life" picks up these threads of intrigue and introduces more by building a portrait of Vincent from details which director Morley discovers by talking to her friends, family and colleagues.

Tickets for this first event will be on sale at the door at £5 and Membership details and application forms for the Screen Wood Green Film Club will be available on the evening.

There is currently no further information available online.
