Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Lack of funding could be a Moment in time, £1.25 bn for mental health services, promised in next budget.

Lack of funding could be a Moment in time we do not have to accept the status quo.

It was confirmed at the Lib Dem conference on Saturday that mental health services in England will receive £1.25bn in next week's Budget.

The extra cash, spent over five years, will be used to treat more than 100,000 young people by 2020.
It will also be spent supporting pregnant women and new mothers.

The Liberal Democrats have said mental health will be a key pledge in their election manifesto.

One in four of us are affected by mental health, it makes good sense to invest and lay the foundation for an environment conducive to patient centred healthcare, with greater understanding and care provision.

Who else will step up to the plate?
I trust Labour will do their level best, David Lammy our MP, as will our Labour and Lib Dem councilors, will fight no doubt for the most vulnerable in Tottenham to support St Ann's Hospital as a centre of excellence going forward, (without the need to sell off our NHS land to retain services.)

There are other services at St Ann's to fight for and retain:
breast cancer screening, children's services, stroke rehab, specialist eye care, foot health, sexual health, child development, dentistry, physio, mobility clinic, psychological therapy, day surgery, x-ray, sickle cell & Thalassaemia service & an emergency ambulance service.

Andy Burnham stood up for the Whittington Hospital, and he can be our champion again. Mental health is so important that it should be a cross party priority, it is protection for us all in our most vulnerable state, where our humanity is exposed.

Please post commitment to mental health funding investment by political parties here.

The LibDems have had five years to protect our NHS, where Mental Health services are fast disappearing, along with the skeleton services at St Anne's. They have gone along with the increased privatisation of our health services. David Lammy has likewise supported a Labour government which started down that road. Our NHS is not safe in their hands. The Green Party alone is calling for a fully funded health service out of the hands of profiteers. They won't get elected? They will if we vote for them!

Act in haste; gloat at leisure. The real motto of the Haringey Kobertories.  Who have rushed into a commitment to Barnet-style cuts and restructuring weeks before a General Election when nobody  has any certainty of the outcome; and the shape of the next Government's policies.

Let's not let another generation down,
The future start now...
