To put your HOL concerns at ease, the 7 month pregnant lady who had this accident yesterday is my neighbour.
I popped into see her this morning to check she and her 2 year old who was also in the car are ok - she is but very shaken as you can imagine.
She is a Gardens Resident and a registered cardholder of the bollards system
So did the bollards malfunction, Andy?

If they did, that will be £20 on my Council Tax.

If the driver wants to get money back from LBH, I hope she has enough to allow for the delay in cash flow. It just took seven months for LBH to refund the £15 of damage done to my car by their dust cart, repaid via their insurers. The admin cost must have been ten times that.

That's terrible I hope she's better now, what happened exactly? My bollard key has stopped working too.

I agree with Lydia, it just goes to show what lengths the council are willing to go to in order to stop someone driving down a road. Why don't they install fishing lines around traffic lights to stop cyclists from jumping the light when it's green for pedestrians?
So Andy, your original reason for getting these bollards in the first place was to reduce accidents and 'save lives'. Please excuse my, not unreasonable lack of sympathy. Just like you I did not think it would be possible for the bollards to malfunction in this way.

Difficult to say yet if its a malfuction - I guess this will come out in the wash.
ATG have designed out such issues - the CCTV footage should show what happened
Andy
Will there never be any end to this madness.

Bollard key not working?

This means the bollard key battery is flat. LBH will replace it for a fee. It cost me £15 last year.

As for cyclists crashing red lights; if they do it slowly when the road is clear of pedestrians, I don't have any issue with that. Keep your fishing wire for catching fish!

just wasted ten minutes looking at bollard porn on youtube, there is loads of it. This is my favourite.

Hmph. Two pages of comments and no-one has remarked on the missing "S" from "KERSPLAT"

Hmm, seems like we may both be imagining our onomatopoeic Batman fight sounds. Although we’re in good company. Google results seem about evenly split between people who remember Kerplat and those who recall it as Kersplat. However I can find no actual evidence of either. The hunt is on. In the meantime, this is the most comprehensive list I can find on a quick browse. And for the baby boomers amongst you, here’s an evocative few seconds:
