Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Two Fridays ago I passed a four car accident on one of the Ladder roads, but the Council aren't minded to attend to traffic problems here. Today it was Green Lanes. Another busy Friday, another traffic accident.

This time a motorcyclist was knocker off her bike by a motorist and was lying in the road shaking but well attended by ambulance professionals. Very sad to see.

(And, yes I thought about the ethics of taking this picture, so made sure the injured person was out of shot).

Always take the picture. You can delete it later if you think it's too much. This only doesn't apply if commissioned by another, when they have editorial control.

Gory traffic pics are valid propaganda.

Glad this one was not so gory. So many of these incidents (seldom accidents) are bikes, where a little dent to a car/truck can be a lost limb or worse to a two-wheeler.

Since they started letting motorcyclists use the bus lanes they've had more accidents. Nice one Boris.

It's OK Hugh, the bus lane is going and things like this will stop...

More accidents? I'm not so sure but then again....

I actually ride a small motorcycle and it's nearly always the age old story, "Sorry, didn't see you mate" There are two ways of looking at this. One is that the congestion charge has put an awful lot more M/B's on the road coupled with the public's love of delivered fast food. The latter here are my pet hate. All these delivery riders have to do is the CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) which is mostly only about bike handling and not road sense, then they are let loose on someone else's machine, (doesn't cost them anything so they're not bothered about riding it properly and safely) to reek havoc on our roads.

As for driving in the bus lane, yes, it's very dodgy for m/bikes (and cyclists?). Again it's the "I didn't see you" syndrome. There they are, driving in the lane on your right then they want to turn left. You have to be very alert for this. Personally I drive quite slowly if I'm in a bus lane, (for fast food delivery drivers it seems to be a race track) waiting for that car to turn left or that pedestrian to step out in front of me.

I'd take a bet that most of the bus lane accidents involve L plate riders. Also I doubt that there's more accidents than before we were allowed in bus lanes, it's just that now that we are they can say specifically where we were for the statistics. Accidents involving bikes where the other vehicle was turning left into a side road or pulling out from a side road are the most common in town and were happening even before we were allowed to use the bus lanes. It's just that now they can say "he/she was in the bus lane".

Saw a similar accident at the end of my road two weeks ago - driver pulled out of parking space and sent a pizza delivery guy flying, then denied he was at fault.

I am not surprised as I live on the ladder roads and it is meant to be one way yeah right and as for greenlanes they drive like maniacs and often drive through the red light if you are not fast enough in crossing the road when it is your right to cross they have the damn cheek to beep their horn I just turn and look at them and think to myself what a complete moron.

Re honking drivers - enjoy this. Pure joy.
