Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
ITV1 SERIES LOOKING FOR CONTRIBUTORS
Dear Harringay Residents,
I'm a producer at a BAFTA Award winning TV Production company called Love Productions (www.loveproductions.co.uk). We’re currently making a new prime-time series for ITV1 about neighbours and are looking for people who would like to talk to us about potentially taking part.
We're particularly interested in Harringay as a borough to film in were residents keen because of the area's rich history and vibrant mix of community-minded people and local businesses.
What’s the series?
In London, only 1 in 10 of us count our neighbours as friends and so we want to film with a number of households in one neighbourhood over six weeks in the summer to find out more about the people that live there. We’d then like to offer those people the opportunity to gain an insight into each other’s lives and see whether this makes a difference to their relationships with each other.
As a result, the series will look at life at home today; we will get to know the people who are filming with us and see from different perspectives all the things that unite us: family relationships, work stresses and joys, conversations over the dinner table, what makes us happy and what makes us sad.
Please do get in touch with us if you would like to find out more – there’s no obligation for anyone who calls to take part and talking to people is great for us so that we can shape the series as best we can according to conversations we’ve had.

Having read the excellent article on here about the different spellings of 'Harringay' I see I have fallen into the trap of muddling what I mean by misspelling: unforgivable! Apologies. I'm interested in Harringay as having had research chats (and also personally knowing the area a little) it seems like somewhere with lots going on and a really good feel to it. However, I think of course there will be lots of other pockets in the borough as a whole that also have much to offer... We're hoping for residents to tell us about their areas so we can be lead by their expertise!

Is Love Productions the same company who made 'Benefits Street' & 'Immigration Street'? I did some Google searches on Love Productions & it looks as though the residents of 'Immigration Street' have been campaigning & protesting against Love Productions because they considered that the company's filming in their community ignited "racial violence". Is that right?
I've lived all over the country & I've never had so many neighbours who are my friends - we already 'see things from different perspectives' & 'share conversations over the dinner table'. We also see & chat to our neighbours at the shops, at the children's centres, in the local restaurants & on the buses. If you take some time to read the posts on 'Harringay' online you'll see many examples of how our community looks out for each other. Given the tone of your previous programmes, I fail to see why anyone would want their community presented in such a negative way. Do correct me if I'm wrong?

I would urge anyone to simply boycott Love Productions and have nothing to do with them after the disgusting TV that was both Benefits Street and Immigration Street. Lowest-common denominator television pandering to the UKIP demographic and something Harringay should avoid with a bargepole, no matter how sweet the pitch.

I live alone - no interesting dinner table conversations here! I've only lived here four months though and have several friends who were already here and have met several neighbours (from a couple of streets away anyway) - I love this neighbourhood.

Hence my wanting to keep the producers of this kind of trash TV away from the fine thing we have going on here.

We understand that both Benefits Street and Immigration Street have divided opinion. And while we would disagree with the criticisms levelled against these programmes, these are just two of the many programmes that Love Productions make. The Great British Bake-Off (BBC ONE), The Great British Sewing Bee (BBC TWO), My Last Summer (CHANNEL 4) and For The Love Of Cars (CHANNEL 4) are some of the other programmes we make. Specifically regarding this upcoming series, we are currently in the very early stages of production, talking to people who might like to appear in the series. The referenced statistic that 1 in 10 Londoners count their neighbours as their friends is a statistic that has come from an independent survey commissioned by the Eden Project. Our intentions with this upcoming series is to engender an increased level of community spirit in areas where people genuinely don’t know their neighbours as well as they might like to. This is not to criticise areas where this may ring true. We believe that if we introduce people to each other, friendships will form, people will swap skills, love may blossom!
