Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This cat has taken up residence in my outside cat shelter. I've noticed this weekend that it is ill so I wish to find its owner. It's Duckett road/Cavendish road area.

Aww poor kitty :-/ Have you tried the missing pet register?

Not yet. I'm hoping it will turn out to be a neighbour's cat, maybe someone who lives on Duckett Road or Cavendish Road.

I was worried about it over the weekend as it wasn't well and bleeding and just stayed in the outside cat shelter. However, it got up this morning and is moving around fine, its friendly. I suspect it had a bad cat fight and was feeling sore for a few days. The cat has now gone back in the outside cat shelter, as the weather is bad. I've now given it a Snugglesafe heat pad which I heated up in the microwave so that will stay warm for hours!

Has it a shaven patch underneath its chin?

No shaven patch.

Just an update. I found the owner. They have had the cat for 4 years. They decided to get a dog and the cat is frightened of the dog. They are keeping the dog and don't want the cat anymore. So the cat has lost its home.

Then they should be reported to the RSPCA.

This makes me very angry.

Me too.

What about the cat, where is he now? Is someone looking after him?

I am looking after him for now. He is living in my outside cat shelter which is insulated with cat flap and heat pad which I heat up for him twice a day so he is always warm. He hasn't been vaccinated since he was a kitten so I plan to take him to the vet to be vaccinated and FIV tested. I have flea treated and wormed him.

I have 5 rescue cats myself, that's why I haven't been able to bring him inside, altho he roams in my garden freely. So I am looking for a good home for him - which also means a home for life. He's a lovely male, neutered 4 year old, black and white cat. He is friendly and timid.

I really wish I could take him, unfortunately my BigBoy won't tolerate other cats. I will keep my ear to the ground as I often her of people wanting cats. Have you contacted Cats Protection at Archway? The lady there is fantastic and makes videos of the cats and puts them on twitter via youtube, which really seems to help with rehoming. I always retweet them as do a lot of people I know.

I wish there was a way of getting such owners to take responsibility or have them prosecuted. The least they could have done is tried to rehome him, not just turf the poor little mite out like that. Obviously we have no way of knowing for sure but his injuries could be as a result of the dog attacking him which doesn't bear thinking about... I regard my cat as part of my family, I just can't imagine how anyone could be so heartless... Poor little animal. You are doing a wonderful thing looking after him, he is very lucky to have found you. Please keep us updated on his progress. I have some catfood -  Sainsburys own brand pouches, I bought a massive box of 48 thinking I would save money but my snob won't eat them. Can I drop them round for him?

His owner offered to collect him and take him straight to Cats Protection. However, I said I would continue to look after him as rescue places are inundated and I think he's better off here for now. I want to get his vaccinations done and any medical treatment as I emailed Cats Protection and they said it helps them if vaccinations are done first before a cat is brought in as otherwise it delays rehoming by a month.

Thanks Lauren, any cat food is always welcome! I think you've got my details as we were in email contact before.
