I'm liking this more, found via your website suggestion,  although as a more permanent solution, also talked about several times before on HOL. I think one of these garden islands in each half of a ladder rd would be excellent.

Those look great to me, we should try to do some of them around here. Would love to have the encaustic tiling painted on my road:

The tiles weren't painted so big in the end.
