Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I'm looking at various premises in Harringay with a view to setting up an art gallery.

I'm considering having a small cafe operation alongside the gallery, as well as renting out part of the premises as studio or office space.

I would be very happy to talk to anyone who might be interested in helping out or getting involved.

I think there are a lot of people in the area who would love to have a gallery on their doorstep, as well as a more trendy cafe to go to! I have a track record in running a successful gallery in east London, as well as providing studios, but I've never run a catering operation or bar.

Look forward to hearing from you - ideas and observations also welcome!

Hi Monica,

Sounds like a brilliant idea. I'd be really interested in helping out in some way. I've sent you a connection and I think once you accept I can send you a message.

Thanks, Renee, that sounds really interesting - I will get in touch via the connections link.

hi Renee, im brand new to this kind of forum, group, network stuff but seen your earlier post stating you would love to have your own space , i am doing something very community minded from a creative perspective but with solid skills based backround blending commercial with charitable. we recently lost our live work premises but have got our eye on another bigger and better place locally , meantime we have BRAND NEW START gallery cum antique ,vintage ,art, shop combined with tea and events from plays to live music, film to vocal thi chi, and we could do with joining forces with some one right now to make sure we keep going frankly,  we have many events planned good stock an amazing space in the centre of the high street and were here for the good of the people, so if you would like to chat etc please let me know asap. yours sincerely jonny rogers

There are a few vacant shops on the little road between harringay station and the library. One of which I enquired about and it wasnt too expensive. You might need 2 shop units like that for what you propose. That would be quite near Cafe Moka.

I would also consider the stretch of Green lanes nearest to Newington Green. There is already what looks like a gallery there though I havent had a proper look at it, and a few vacant shops. Looks like it's very slowly starting to get nicer / more interesting around there. The main drag of Green Vegas seems pretty much locked down for the Range Rover crowd from what I can gather.

I don't think this area would be good for a gallery/cafe.   Too near library (which already displays local art) and Cafe Moka.

There is a vacant shop towards Newington green on the corner of Petherton Road, but that is in Hackney.

Great idea. I could help with looking out for potential funding. Maybe organise a meeting of those interested.

Thanks very much, Michele, will email you a message shortly.

I don't I can offer any practical help or ideas about location, but I'd love to offer my moral support for a great idea! Seems to me it would be preferable to have the kind of footfal you'd get from being on the main drag of Grand Parade rather than being tucked away on a side street.

I have experience running events and also write funding bids for my job. I would love to see this kind of initaitve in the local area so would be more than willing to lend a hand.
