Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I Want To Recommend.....New bakery called Favourite Bakerz, Lordship Lane

Breakfast this morning was decided by my desire to check out the new eatery on the corner of Westbury Avenue leading onto Lordship Lane called Favourite Bakerz. After noticing this new addition from a bus I was instantly intrigued and wanted to visit. Although it's a bakery joining the other more prominent 'B' lane regulars of barbers and bookies, this is definitely a welcome alternative to breakfasting at home (it brightened up Westbury Avenue too).

My other half and I soon established it's a Turkish family run business which only opened last Saturday. Not knowing a lot about Turkish food let alone Turkish breakfast, I was offered to sample the small halloumi pastry I was eyeing up. Immediately taken in by this puffed creation, I ordered two more along with a tea. My partner had a lovely shredded peppered lamb in a wrap(which may have been a bit too early for breakfast) and 2 lattes. After feeling very full from devouring these toast and cereal alternatives we expected to pay over £10 but it came to mere £6.30. (Small pastries were surprising only 30p each!) Although I'm sure prices will increase with trade.

They were in the middle of setting up an outdoor seating area which I assume will be up and running by next week (just going on from the the way were progressing).

This new place is definitely worth a visit to try out their varied sweets/savouries/breads and has the potential of becoming a favourite amongst the locals.

ooh! sounds nice, lets hope they do well. does anyone remember a bakers called,Fred Hills around that area in the 1950s. think it was next to a sweet shop Dickie Birds I think. Also the Buy and save grocers opposite side of road.

I hope they do well too. I've noticed another bakery opening up further up towards Wood Green way on Lordship Lane. Hopefully with Lordship Rec opening up soon, we'll get a few more varied shops opening up near the park. There seems to be quite a bit of progress including the swans having cygnets! The resident park squirrel who seems to reside near the lake is particularly friendly and tame. It won't be afraid of sitting next to you on a bench waiting for you to give away any treats you may have.
