I want to learn some DIY Skills
Hey, guys, I had a problem with the kitchen sink and I just called in a plumber to fix it. The sink is working fine now but all these repairs is costing me a lot of money. I would love to learn some skills so that I could do the repairs, atleast the minor ones by myself. The problem is I am a total newbie in this and I don't know where to start. I did find a blog on fixing plumbing issues though ( http://www.advancedplumbing.ca/blog/general-category/become-an-ace-... ). If you guys know any good tutorial sites then it would be great if you could share it here.

There used to be a Readers' Digest book on Do it Yourself covering all of the basic tasks from plumbing to painting, via fixing squeaky floorboards and minor electrical replacements. Have a look in W H Smith.

I am a handyman but I also recommend the Readers Digest DIY book (if it has been updated) also Collins DIY. Youtube is an excellent help as well. I suggest when going on youtube you add 'uk' to your search as I'm afraid our American cousins have a tendency to blether on for hours while the Brits are to the point. Also the UK vids will talk about materials and techniques and tools which are easily obtainable. It helps if you are specific, ie instead of typing 'plumbing basics' type in the job you want to do such as 'replace bath waste' or 'fix floating shelf'

Agree with Youtube advice, fixed my sink and plumbed in a washing machine with just Youtube to help!
