Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Check out this beautiful little contraption, handily located on the pavement next to the Lion King on Seymour Road. It attracts rubbish like you would not believe, men and animals urinate on it, and it smells wonderful in the summer. If you like stale piss that is.
It is chained to the wall, and has been there for at least 6 years, probably longer. I have called the council about it, but they will not deal with it, as it is "private property". Never mind the fact that it is on the public pavement.
So: This thing needs to be freed from hits chains. Any ideas on how to free this thing, and let it move on, hopefully with a little help from it's friends at the council eventually?

Funnily enough no, will do but guessing it's a no. It's been there for years, and surely someone else would have asked at some point. Or....?
I'd always assumed it belonged to the LK but am embarrassed to say that I have never stopped to wonder what on earth it is for or why it is there. It hasn't always been there as you can see from this ... (I love this photo, always makes me feel that things are getting better!)

Why don't we ask if it belongs to the LK or if they know who it belongs to? If nobody knows could we put a notice on it saying we assume it is dumped? I'm up for it ..
Me too - let's get shot of this thing once and for all. When's that photo from? Eurgh!
2002.
It looks as if it's chained to a gas pipe which has got to be illegal. Bolt cutters anyone ?
That's a fairly hefty looking chain. Maybe it should be brought to the attention of the gas board that there is something causing damage to their pipe.
Can anyone else smell gas?
(just sent this to gas people)

Hello

I am concerned about this object attached to a gas pipe at the bottom of Seymour Road, off Green Lanes, London N8. It is putting considerable strain on a gas pipe, and I am concerned that it could pull the pipe away from the wall. A neighbour has contacted the council, but they appear unwilling to remove it. Can you help? We have contacted local businesses but no-one seems to own it. I have attached a photo.

Kind regards

Dan Waters
I'll contact the council on Monday and see what can be done to remove it - its an eyesore and a health hazard - leave it with me.

Cllr Karen Alexander
Well done Karen. Thanks. You'll come back and post on the results?
That's wonderful, thank you Karen!!!
Fantastic! Meant to say before Anette, love your original tags for this post!!
Spoke to man of Lion King about trolley. He says that it is his and that it's used for early morning milk deliveries.

[But it is full of rubbish ..... I said to him, 'Careful, Lizzy Litter of Harringay will be on to you! ]
