The council are digging up and removing original Victorian cobbles.
Replacing them with new paving slabs, can any one advise a good contact to see if i can stop this?

currently at the end of carlingford road heading towards the junction of carlingford and stanmore road.
i complained to the guys doing the work and about five mins later a 'manager' turned up, took my info and assured me they would resolve this.
I don’t know if paving stones have any protected status, unless it’s specifically awarded. Nonetheless, you ought to be able to find somebody with a heritage brief, perhaps conservation and heritage somewhere in the Council. There should be at least an officer and a cabinet member with this in their brief.
Unfortunately, going on the speed Councils' tend to work at, this work has been planned for some time and it's too late to stop it.
However, there used to be a policy, before Councils outsourced all their work, that members of the public could 'claim' broken paving slabs, so, could the cobbles be classed as 'broken', and, assuming (due to age?) that the cobbles were/are Council property, who would I need to contact to 'claim' them?
