Helicopters over N4
Do we have any rights in regard to the increasing amount of helicopter flyovers these days. At 4am this morning we were buzzed for a significant period of time by a low-flying/hovering helicopter (presumably police). This happens regularly hour after hour at the weekend. Presumably, it is increasingly the norm to send helicopters out for visual searches, but for what it must cost they could put a few more people in uniform or in cars. What about our right to peace and privacy, not to mention a decent night's sleep? I thought crime was going down, anyway.

Yes I find it bloody annoying too (and I always wanted to be a helicopter pilot).
Allegedly they have such trouble getting real helicopter pilots to become police helicopter pilots, they have to train them themselves.

After three decades of nocturnal Lynxes and Chinooks over the peaceful fields of South Armagh their sound fills me with nostalgia and lulls me to sleep. Couldn't we replace our W1 Bus with a fleet of W1 Chinooks or Black Hawks ?

Thanks for uploading this document. It's good to know that they do at least have to consider the noise impact before flying at night - however, what you or I might consider "proportionate" or "necessary" is not necessarily how a gung-ho rozzer with a thrill for an on-going chase might see it.

It's your own fault for living near Arsenal. Up in N17 all the helicopters make the soothing sound of Hava Nagila, after Spurs have trounced the enemy.
Sirens, helicopter and plane noise, and dumbass thumpy thumpy music from cars. It's the soundtrack of our lives. Farewell to sleep.
