You can check the frame number (usually under the bottom bracket/ middle of the pedals) against https://www.bikeregister.com/ if you want to check ownership more widely than HoL

Thanks. I think bike register is only good for people who have actually registered their bikes (which we all should do) but I'll do that when I can.

Thanks again for the link. I checked https://www.bikeregister.com/, and no one seems to have reported it as missing or stolen unless I have the frame number wrong (pretty sure I don't). If I don't hear back by the end of the month, we'll take it to a charity that refurbishes old bikes.
