Harringay Traffic Plan response

Hi all;

I wrote the following on July 2.  

Hello;

Just wondering what’s happening with the Harringay traffic plan that Mike Hakata started years ago?  Another councillor took over when Mike quit. Now that the Green Party is at the helm, just wondering if someone has taken it over or whether it’s been abandoned. Anyone know?  It would be a shame if all that work and the money put into it was put on hold or scraped altogether.

I finally got a response from Councillor Gio Iozzi, Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Transport  on Sept 4. I’m sharing the relevant bits of a few email exchanges here. The response is not ideal but a start and she seems keen too.. I’ll post when I get more information.

I have asked for an update on the Harringay Ladder Traffic and Transport Review so can't give you a definitive answer until I am more informed. But I am fully committed to getting Haringey on the map in terms of active travel and calmer, safer streets so really working with our Transport and Highways teams to get long delayed plans off the shelf and onto our roads.”

I wrote back. 

The Harringay transport plan is a huge issue because we were supposed to hear something last year, I think, about conclusions to the findings or something like that. So, it’s important that it’s not forgotten about. If it is forgotten, people will just think ‘why bother’ in the future.  You still didn’t answer my question, though, about what’s happening to it but perhaps it’s more completed than that.  Just so you know, I’m going to share the second paragraph you wrote with Haringey Online because I said I would add your response to it when I put a comment about it online in early July. I just think it’s fair to follow up things.

I am assuming also you are speaking specifically about the Haringey Ladder Traffic and Transport Review, not the wider Haringey Transport Plan which is a borough wide strategy.

I wrote 

It’s the one that Mike Hakata was initially working on.  I’m not sure what it was called. When he quit, it was give to another cabinet member who is now leader on Labour on the council.

Ok I will try to clarify, I have been shown dozens of plans over the last 3 months, some of which are ready to start moving on, others not so ready so it is taking some time to get the top line vision on things, it's quite hard for those outside to know how much material there is to be briefed on! I am in the process of working out my priorities and making a firm announcement when I am ready. Unfortunately, the heads of service being on leave for a few weeks is slowing things down. But as a cyclist and keen supporter of active travel, I am really committed to making some changes. Will be back in touch soon with more information, I know it's frustrating but will try to get a clearer sense from my advisor for you.
