Harringay Market - The End
Dear everyone,
After two amazing years, I've decided that the time has come to close Harringay Market.
As most of you know Sunday 20 July is our last day at South Harringay School, and it's been quite tough to find a new suitable venue, where we could hold the market every Sunday.
The Kurdish Centre were keen, however they were unsure whether they could commit to every Sunday.
It was impossible to find another venue on such a short notice.
I've had people from Stroud Green, Crouch End, Muswell Hill etc. emailing me about possible venues, however it meant losing the current clientele and rebranding, because Harringay Market isn't Harringay Market in Stroud Green.
I feel that the time has come to move on. And it's fine.
Massive thank you to everyone for your support in the past two years. I've made some great friends and met some very lovely people!
A very special thank you to Peet, Matt and Helen (who were there almost every single Sunday from the start), Liz, Phil K, John McM, Ebony and Paul, Burgoyne Bec and Malcolm, Charlotte F, Hugh, Antonia K ( who has been amazing and helped me out with the market in her spare time these past two years!) Ant, Jasmine and Roger, David Schmitz and Nick G-T for all your help, advice, words of encouragement and friendship.
Hope to see old and new faces at our last two markets (13 & 20 July).
And you can still visit Tottenham Green Market (every Saturday until 2 August at least).
Up next: the Harringay Block Party on Saturday 27 September. Our very own independent festival with lots of good street food, live music, an art exhibition and good vibes.

We regularly trade at the market (Peel & Chimney) and have really enjoyed being part of it. This was our first regular market in London and thanks Jessica for giving us an opportunity. Thank you to all the lovely customers especially those that have been week in, week out, despite the weather. We have really appreciated the support. We hope to see many of you around at other north London events! Mel & Graham.

Really sad Jessica. The market has been such a wonderful thing for Harringay giving us a place to meet up and for kids to play together, and good food too. Its a real loss for the area for it to be closing.

I too am really sorry to hear that the market will be closing and think it will be a significant loss to the area. I have really enjoyed going each week when I wasn't working or away since I moved to the area 18 months ago and have been very grateful for the opportunity to sample all sorts of delicious fresh food so close to where I live. Thank you Jessica for all that you and others have done in getting it started in the first place and I wish you and all the stall holders good luck in your future ventures.

As I've said elsewhere, this is going to be sadly missed - it's become such an integral part of Sunday! Congrats on such a great two years though; I look forward to your next move and will continue to enjoy TGM in the meantime.

we can't let such an asset go so (seemingly) easily, can we?
Can the council help with somewhere, have they tried; what about the area by the big Sainsbury's they tented off recently?
Presume North Harringay school isn't an option, but how about part of Duckett's common for a few hours on a Sunday?
Markets like this add to an area - may not have loved everything there- easy to lose, but hard to get back what it gives to an area and says about it. Plus if Hackney has markets (Clapton for god's sake), why shouldn't we?
