Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi there Harringay Online!

This is Ebony and Paul Harding, Harringay residents since 2007.

We thought it was time to share some details with you about our new venture on Green Lanes. If you are regulars at Blend Cafe you may have noticed some work ongoing 2 doors down at 581C, the old internet cafe. We have been busy these past months readying the site so that by Christmas we can open Harringay's newest specialist grocery store.

We will be stocking fresh organic produce sourced predominantly from British farms, free range British meat, dairy, fish, some vegan and vegetarian food and artisan bread from local bakeries as well as loads of other healthy and top notch delicious goods.

Alongside all this amazing food, we will have a wide range of wine including many organic and biodynamic varieties and an expansive range of local London/UK craft beers and ciders.

We are both big music lovers so we also plan to stock a small range of new and second hand vinyl records and cds.

Please bear with us while the renovations are ongoing, we can't wait to open the doors and hope you will be as excited as we are about the Harringay Local Store.

If anyone has any favourite items they'd like us to carry, feel free to mention them in this thread. All suggestions are most welcome!

See you soon,

Ebony and Paul

Vegemite please!

You can get Vegemite in Sainsbury's. Just saying

Actually you can't anymore, they stopped stocking it last year. I miss it on my toast so would be happy to have a new supplier too.

Oh - sorry

Waitrose stock it.

Marmite is so much tastier...

Budgens

It's so wonderful. Despite being Australian they have even discussed reaching out to the East Australia Islands by putting a Silver Fern on a black background above their shop.

this is fantastic news

for me, just staples like milk, eggs, bread, fruit/veg, porridge oats which are organic would be brilliant

I havent even heard of most of the things people have requested here

Me neither tigha!

How about alfalfa sprouts and a plate of mashed yeast? Or failing that, Arnott's Cheddar shapes but no Milo, thanks.

Hi all :)

What a busy few weeks it has been. If you have walked past the store recently you will see that our sign is now up, bold as ever! Sorry to John Mc, seems we got your fern memo just a little too late... This week production on the shop counters and fittings have started, by next week it is going to be quite hectic in there with installations.

In response to the last few messages, we would like to assure our antipodean followers that vegemite is definitely on the list! We haven't quite worked out a cost effective way of bringing it into the country, but if it means an empty suitcase trip to Australia we may be doing just that. Kraft peanut butter too! It's definitely worth the trip.

Hugh, I love a good arepa too and always make sure to get one from the Venezuelan stall in Camden Lock Markets when I am there, the shredded beef with plantains is my favourite. But unfortunately it's probably not going to make its way into the store. We do hope there will be other snacks and treats to tempt you!

Caroline - email incoming :)

I am going to Australia in March and would be happy to bring back some Vegemite and Peanut Butter (will be doing it anyway for my own use!) and you could bribe Steve from Blend to do the same when he goes in a few weeks time - suddenly you have a decent stream of supply!!!!

Good luck.  Looking forward to you opening!
