I've been told by a Labour Party member that at a hustings lat night, Harringay councillor Zena Brabazon has been voted as favourite to occupy the now vacant role of Leader of the Council.
What a different council that would be!
The other candidates were Cllr Ahmet and Cllr Ejifor.
The final choice will be made by elected councillors.

OAE: I always saw George Meehan as a socialist first and foremost. A man who tried to do the right thing; and got angry about poverty and injustice.
Absolutely, Alan.
The first vote was by party members i.e. unelected people who pay their party subs every year; the second was by elected councillors. Both are local. Both methods are ‘democratic’. You might argue for the primacy of one method over the other, but arguably choice by elected members is the more ‘democratic’.
What is startling, however, is how popular Zena was with the rank and file vis a vis how she fared at the hands of elected members. We can speculate about what led to the result we got, but I don’t think we know.
The deputy leader, I discovered today, is Emine Ibrahim, who served as Harringay councillor for the past four years.
Zena is the Jeremy Corbyn of Harringay; loved by the members but not by the Progress types who are local councillors.
Do you think Emine has a thick enough skin for the job ?
Well of the two of them with that requirement, she's not the one I'm worried about.
Don't worry, John. The mini-Machiavellis have made their deals. (Although a few of them might possibly have a problem remembering which promises they made and to whom.)
There's a nice story from the 1970s about someone senior in the Labour Party comparing Harold Wilson to Machiavelli. And being angrily contradicted by another person who knew Wilson well and said the comment was not only inaccurate but outrageous.
"You knew where you were with Machiavelli"
