Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The following is a press release from Haringey Council.

Celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Saturday 2 June by joining friends and neighbours at The Big Jubilee Lunch, Crescent Gardens, High Road, Wood Green (opposite the Civic Centre). The outdoor event runs from 11.30am – 1.30pm.

A Big Lunch can be anything from a few neighbours getting together to a street party with food, music and decorations. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the country to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.

Highlights of this year’s special event in Haringey will be the planting of a tree at 12.30pm by the new Mayor, Cllr David Browne, and Deputy Lieutenant for Haringey, Rosemary Warne MBE. There will also be an opportunity to send a personal message to The Queen.

Since starting in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place in all kinds of communities across the UK. In 2011 almost two million people took part and this year The Big Jubilee Lunch is part of the main programme of events for the Diamond Jubilee.
