Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Haringey Rhinos are hosting a family open day at New River sports ground in Wood Green on Saturday, featuring rugby activities for the whole community.

Starting at 11am, the morning will feature mini rugby training sessions, skills drills, kicking competitions, games of British bulldog and rugby relay challenges to introduce new players to the sport.  In addition, the club’s Under-16s will be playing a pre-season warm-up match against local rivals Hampstead, kicking off at 12.30pm.

Haringey are launching a women’s team this year for the first time, and there will be a number of fun ‘Give Rugby a Go’ sessions on Saturday aimed at girls and ladies who might be interested in rugby and joining the club.

The afternoon culminates in a men’s trial fixture against the visiting Beccles Bulls at 3pm, in which the Rhinos will be fielding a combination of their first and second XVs.

There will be a barbecue and a bar, and plenty of activities for children to enjoy, including a bouncy castle, rodeo bull and face painters.

The event will be ideal for men, women, boys and girls who are interested in finding out more about rugby in the community, or those who just want to go along and enjoy the fun.

Haringey’s first XV play in London North West Division Three and are always looking to recruit new players. The club also field youth teams from the age of eight to 17, and the coaching staff from all of the age groups and teams will be on hand to answer questions.
